What to Expect - About Us | Hoada Campsite Namibia

What to Expect

The region weaves a rich tapestry of spectacular wildlife, varying bushveld, geology, and history for even the most seasoned traveller, guaranteed to captivate. Often referred to as “The land God made in anger”, the reason for this name is apparent when visiting this starkly beautiful country.

The wildlife in this region has adapted to the arid environment, where water and sustenance are scarce and the terrain unforgiving. An example of this adaptation is the elephant, which is smaller in size compared to its inland counterparts and has wider feet to navigate the terrain. The area is home to a wide range of game species that have also developed remarkable survival mechanisms to thrive in the harsh conditions, including the ability to survive with minimal water and endure extreme heat during the summer months.

The sights of the Grootberg Plateau and Klip River Valley, carving a deep furrow in the landscape, is a wondrous sight. The views in this area can literally take your breath away as you stand on the edge of the world and survey this sparsely populated and wondrous landscape.

Hoada Campsite is a charming home in this wilderness, offering relaxation, solitude, and quaint accommodations. Be sure to book a stay here to experience the best of Damaraland!

Moreover, the area is inhabited by a diverse array of smaller game and reptiles, including jackals, baboons, and the elusive klipspringers or dassies (rock hyrax). Please be aware that the mischevious baboons in the area might occasionally visit your campsite. We kindly request you to securely pack away your food and belongings whenever you leave to avoid any unexpected encounters with these mischievous creatures.
