The region is teeming with wildlife that roams freely, although it is important to note that sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, be sure to remain observant for the desert-adapted elephant, rhino, and lion, which may grace you with their presence. Moreover, the area is inhabited by a diverse array of smaller game and reptiles, including jackals, baboons, and the elusive klipspringers or dassies (rock hyrax). Please be aware that the mischevious baboons in the area might occasionally visit your campsite. We kindly request you to securely pack away your food and belongings whenever you leave to avoid any unexpected encounters with these mischievous creatures.
While you are in the area, a drive along the breath-taking Grootberg Pass is highly recommended. Additionally, a visit to the ancient rock paintings at Twyfelfontein, just two hours to the south is a must-see should you enjoy geology and history. Another notable attraction is Fort Sesfontein, located just two hours away, which was built in 1896 and boasts a fascinating history.
Etosha National Park is approximately three hours west, making this the perfect stopover either to or from the coastal regions.
